Salutations to Lord Vyāsa
नमोऽस्तु ते व्यास विशालबुद्धे फुल्लारविन्दायतपत्रनेत्र ।
येन त्वया भारततैलपूर्णः प्रज्वालितो ज्ञानमयप्रदीपः ॥
namoʼstu te vyāsa viśālabuddhe phullāravindāyatapatranetra,
yena tvayā bhāratatailapūrṇaḥ prajvālito jñānamayapradīpaḥ.
Salutations unto Lord Vyāsa, of vast intellect, whose eyes are large like the petals of a blossomed lotus. By whom, filled with the oil of Mahābhārata, the lamp of knowledge was well lit.
— Gītā DhyānamThis tool is dedicated to sage Vyāsa of whom it is said that when composing the Bhagavad Gītā, he required a scribe to not only accurately preserve all 700 verses as he chanted them at speed, but also to fully understand them in all their richness. Using one of his tusks to etch onto palm leaves the verses reeled off by Vyāsa, Lord Gaṇeśa himself played the role of that scribe.
This site was inspired from studying Vedānta and Sanskrit at Arsha Vidya UK, an organisation that merits support.
